History

Network CRC was set up in HSA in 2006. Dr. Hooi Lai Seong was the chair lady of The Technical Research Committee HSAJB then. Technical Research Committee HSAJB was a committee that had been set up in 1999 by a group of clinicians with interest in research. Hospital Director was the advisor and the members were appointed by the Hospital Director. Some of its roles include giving advice to Hospital Director on research related issues such as research protocol review and applications approval, organizing research methodology and GCP training courses. On 5 Apr 07 Hospital Director of HSAJB called for meeting to dissolve TRCHSAJB and absorbed all the members to form committee for CRCHSA. CRC head and few new members were appointed. In 2012, we were known as HCRC and currently have six dedicated staff members.

Objectives – Central

• To provide leadership in the development and strengthening of clinical research capacity in the Ministry of Health (MOH)
• To facilitate the establishment of hospital clinical research centres and provide technical support to the network of Hospital CRCs
• To promote and support the conduct of Investigator Initiated Research among MOH staff
• To coordinate the conduct of Industry Sponsored Research at MOH facilities
• To establish and maintain clinical database for the MOH
• To establish collaboration with local, regional and international research organisations in the pursuit for excellence in clinical research in the country

Objectives - Unit

• Provide and manage effective administrative services within the organization through a rigorous and systematic system according to guidelines and objectives set by Clinical Research Centre
