Introduction
The Clinical Research Centre Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan Kuantan (CRC HTAA) Clinical Research Centre (CRC) is one of the six research institutes under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Ministry of Health Malaysia. Established in 2000, CRC has expanded to 33 branches at major hospitals in Malaysia. CRC Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) was established in 2003, its aim is to cultivate a research culture among clinicians, compilation of information regarding all clinical research activities carried out in HTAA, and provide assistance to researchers. In the long term, CRC HTAA aims to ensure excellence and quality of clinical trials and establishing a centre of excellence in specific clinical area.

To be a leading regional clinical research organization in the east coast of Malaysia

Mission
To improve patient’s outcomes through quality and ethical clinical research.

Function

  • Support and facilitate research activities in the hospital through the provision of :
  •   – Database of clinicians interested in research
      – Technical support such as statistical analysis
      – Administrative support such as providing research assistants and study coordinators
      – Facility support such as IT, statistical software, and others, and work station
  • Assist in the registration of research protocol to NMRR (National Medical Research Register)
  • Participate in clinical trials and other research initiated or coordinated by the National CRC
  • Promote research through capacity building in the following ways:
  •   – Conduct courses such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Research Methodology and Biostatisti
      – Conduct regular in-house Training
      – Research Consultation Clinics – provide consultation on research methodology, study design, protocol and statistical analysis
      – Have mentoring programme for clinicians and other medical professionals interested in resea

    Our Services
    1. To provide technical resources for the researcher; in particular the requisite expertise in clinical research expertise (biostatistics, data entry personnel, study coordinators).

    CRC HTAA role are:

  • To provide technical resources for the researcher; in particular the requisite expertise in clinical research expertise (biostatistics, data entry personnel, study coordinators)
  • To Oversight all clinical research comply with the applicable ethical guidelines (e.g., National Institute of Health (NIH), Malaysia Medical Research Ethics Committee (MREC), ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and best practices (i.e., operational transparency, information to security, access to data for research etc.)
