The idea for the setting up of the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) was conceived in 1997 and has been operational since August 2000. Located in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), CRC functions as the clinical research arm of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). It is one of several research organizations under the umbrella of the National Institutes of Health of the MOH. Other research organizations are the Institute of Medical Research (IMR), Institute of Public Health (IPH), Institute of Health Management (IHM), Institute for Health Behavioural Research (IHBR) and Institute for Health Systems Research (IHSR). The role of the CRC is to Promote, Support and Conduct clinical research The CRC also holds regular Research Consultative Clinics as a service for clinicians working in the MOH to assist in problems faced by clinicians in the conduct of their clinical research.
